How do we make the entrepreneur program better? How can we help everyone benefit from the teachings and bring Buddhist wisdom into their management? Weve thought about these questions before, but not in a systematic way. Today, Ive organized those thoughts and would like to share seven points with you.
1. # **营造禅意氛围,优化工作环境** {#营造禅意氛围,优化工作环境}
Create a Chan (Zen) Atmosphere; Optimize Your Environment
When running a business, we must first make sure employees like where they work. If they feel happy and respected, they will naturally take pride in their work, see the company as home, and give their best. But in most real-world businesses, a job is just a way to make money. People come because they have to, just to make ends meet.
There are many reasons for this, but lets focus on the workspace, which is the easiest part to change. Ideally, a workspace should be a natural setting surrounded by greenery, singing birds, and fragrant flowers; nature itself has a healing power that helps people relax. Indoors, such as in high-rise buildings, we can create Zen-inspired spaces where employees can unwind and settle their minds and bodies during breaks.
Take this very space: Chan Hall, the Meditation Hall, the Tea House and the outdoor areas. People find the look and feel completely new. These were just old warehouses, but we redesigned them to be full of Zen and Eastern beauty. Seeing this, many people change their old ideas about temples. They feel this is a peaceful place away from the noisy world, so they want to come here to readstudy and join our events. They keep coming back because it feels like a home for the soul. On the other hand, many traditional temples look the same—just halls where people burn incense and bow. When educated people see that, they often think Buddhism is just a superstition for old folks and has nothing to offer them. They don't feel interested in looking further.
This is the power of environment to attract, gain recognition, and create 'stickiness'—we must take this seriously. Employees spend most of their daylight hours at work; if they feel indifferent or even dislike their surroundings, it accelerates the exhaustion of their mind and body, making it hard for them to settle in. In modern cities, from bustling streets to high-rise apartments, everything easily triggers anxiety and fatigue. If a company creates an ecological environment or a Zen space that encourages harmony between people, nature, and oneself, it will help nourish employees well-being, boost their satisfaction and sense of belonging, and allow them to remain settled and focused on their work.
# **二、重视慈善关爱,建立良性关系**Focus on Compassion and Care; Build Good Relationships {#二、重视慈善关爱,建立良性关系focus-on-compassion-and-care;-build-good-relationships}
Nowadays, the relationship between many companies and their employees, as well as among employees themselves, is purely based on business interest, with almost no emotional bond. This relationship is 'single-threaded' and extremely fragile. Employees feel they are being treated as mere resources or tools; once work becomes slightly unpleasant or a better opportunity appears, they leave easily. If this happens frequently, it will inevitably hinder the development of the enterprise.
How can we deepen our mutual care and make the company a warmer place? As leaders, we should ask ourselves: Is profit all I care about? Do I treat my employees as partners in a shared cause? Do I see business management as a social responsibility I must bear? Do I have that kind of compassion and accountability?
All relationships are reciprocal. Between the enterprise and its employees: the company provides job opportunities, and in turn, employees generate profits. Thus, the company has an obligation to care for them. Between the enterprise and society: a companys survival and growth are built upon the needs of the public. Therefore, after generating profit, it has a responsibility to give back to society.
With this mindset and intention, managers can understand what their employees need, set up care programs, and support those facing difficulties. This will bring the warmth of the company to everyone, deepening relationships and building team spirit. At the same time, following the spirit of public welfare, companies should use their resources to lead employees in charitable efforts—helping colleagues in need and giving back to society. This helps employees feel the companys warmth while also cultivating their compassion, sense of public service, and responsibility. When they have these qualities, the workplace becomes more caring and energetic. In addition, it builds public trust in the company—far more effective than any advertising.
# **三、重视文化教育,重塑人生价值** Prioritize Cultural Education; Reshape Life Values {#三、重视文化教育,重塑人生价值-prioritize-cultural-education;-reshape-life-values}
Managers often look at things practically: they give big jobs to whoever does the work best, which is a kind of ' individual heroism.' But if you want a company to grow and last, simply doing things well is not enough; a sound operational mechanism is also required. It is the mechanism that determines whether you are running a small shop or a group company with rising potential.
Besides mechanism, it is even more vital to bring everyones mindsets together through culture and education. In Buddhism, the monastic community is built on the principle of six harmonious practices. Through institutional equality, the unification of thoughts and values, and the reasonable distribution of benefits, it enables members to live, practice, and attain liberation together. This truly shows the importance of harmony.
Big companies today usually have their own culture, a set of shared goals, beliefs, and values—for this very purpose. This is vital if you want your business to be large and strong. Without it, when you have many employees, they will start pulling in different directions or even fighting among themselves, making it impossible to focus your energy. In the short run, corporate culture lifts morale and productivity; in the long run, it sets the ceiling for how far the company can go.
Many entrepreneurs have taken MBA courses and attended lectures by various management masters. But have we ever considered the culture behind these courses? In other words, what is the 'Dao' (the Way) behind these 'Shu' (the techniques)? In fact, every management model has its own cultural background and philosophical foundation. Most of what we learn today is based on Western business culture. In recent years, the Chinese business community has proposed concepts such as 'Confucian,' 'Zen,' and 'Buddhist' merchants, aiming to integrate Eastern traditional culture into modern management."
I have given many talks on business and culture, and a key question often comes up is: How should we define success? The modern mainstream view often measures success by the scale of one's business and the amount of one's wealth. Various rankings have made this standard tangible, as if success were something quantifiable. From the perspective of Confucian culture, however, success is measured by ones virtue—through self-cultivation, family harmony, state governance, and bringing peace to the world. Success is about what kind of person you are, how you help others, and your contribution to society. These are the true values of life and the real standards of success. From the perspective of Buddhist wisdom, success is viewed through awakening, liberation, and the creation of a Pure Land on earth. Only by abandoning evil and cultivating good, perfecting the inner qualities of compassion and wisdom, and helping others achieve the same, can we find true success.
Therefore, the culture we embrace determines our perspective on success, as well as our ultimate goals and ways of doing things. This concerns not only the development of an enterprise but also the very direction of our lives. From this viewpoint, the importance of culture can never be overstated.
In todays world, with technology advancing rapidly, people are increasingly losing themselves, becoming more confused, troubled, and weighed down by stress. Addressing human issues is the ultimate guarantee for the healthy development of both enterprises and society. As practitioners, we have already benefited from the Dharma. It is clear that the Dharma is ultimate and complete, whether in its understanding of life or its capacity for self-transformation. Because it offers both theoretical depth and practical methods, many people experience significant shifts in their perceptions and mindset even after a short period of study.
"What is the hardest thing in the world? Changing a person is the hardest. As the saying goes, 'kingdoms may be won, but ones nature is hard to change.' Without great wisdom, we cannot even see ourselves clearly, let alone change ourselves or help others transform? In the end, business management boils down to people management. Without addressing human issues, management becomes an exhausting struggle. If we can start with reading clubs—guiding everyone to study traditional culture and the wisdom of the mind, establishing a correct outlook on life, the world, and values, believing in cause and effect, practicing self-discipline and self-reflection, and to aspire to be to be moral, loving, dedicated, and altruistic—then business management will naturally become effortless.
Getting started may require some effort, creativity, and skillful means. It is also essential to implement what was mentioned earlier—creating a Zen-like atmosphere, emphasizing charity and care, and fostering employees' emotional connection and sense of belonging to the company. When employees personally experience that this workplace is different from others and that they genuinely benefit from it, they will become more willing to understand the culture behind this management approach and participate in learning. This way, work isn't just about making a living—it's about feeding the soul. This is the best way for a company to care for its people.
Entrepreneurs are considered successful individuals. But this success doesn't just come from personal hard work; it also comes from the social support—things like government policies, social resources, workers, and the trust of customers. Because of this, they have a duty to give back. Like the old saying goes: ' Success entails a duty to benefit all.' While creating material wealth, entrepreneurs should also use their influence to convey positive views on life and values to society. This is something the world really needs today.
Over the years, we have advocated for spiritual practice and learning, and the reason so many people have participated and actively promoted it is that they have personally benefited from it. They see this as something needed by the public and society, which inspires them to contribute voluntarily. This is precisely the result of a shift in perspective. It's not about imposing tasks on others, but about helping them realize that this is something they genuinely want to do and find meaningful. The same applies to business management. With shared beliefs and values, people naturally work together with unity and purpose. This cannot be achieved without the inheritance of culture.
# **四、选择正命事业,抵制违法行为** Choose Right Livelihood; Resist Illegal Actions {#四、选择正命事业,抵制违法行为-choose-right-livelihood;-resist-illegal-actions}
The Noble Eightfold Path is the core of Buddhist practice. Among its eight factors, Right Livelihood refers to an honest and ethical means of making a living. As business managers, we should pay particular attention to thisas it concerns not only ourselves, but also our employees and all our partners. If we engage in an unwholesome industry or conduct business in illegal ways, then from the worldly perspective, we will violate legal and moral standards; from the perspective of the Dharma, we will create negative karma, resulting in pressure, burden, and anxiety, and affects our daily life, our practice, and the purity of our minds.
What is business of Right Livelihood? First, it means abiding by the law and honoring honesty & integrity. Only such businesses can grow big and last long. There are many century-old companies abroad, and they owe their success to honesty & integrity. China, historically known as a land of propriety, has always valued honesty & integrity. However, in the wave of reform and opening up, many people rushed to develop business, eager to make quick and big money. As a result, integrity became a tradition that was marginalized or even discarded. Consequently, while countless companies emerged, they collapsed just as quickly. Truly reputable enterprises with long-term vitality are extremely rare. Many companies focus on branding. In fact, honesty & integrity is the very core of a brand—its the most precious intangible asset. In recent years, many brands have 'collapsed'—at the root, it was their honesty & integrity collapsed along with the public trust.
Secondly, businesses of Right Livelihood should align with ethical precepts. Many people might think, "Abiding by the law is already hard enough—why follow precepts too? Isn't that just making things more difficult for ourselves?" In reality, precepts are not merely restrictive rules; they are guidelines rooted in the understanding of cause and effect, helping us avoid harmful actions and mitigate risks. Following the law make us lawful citizens. Observing precepts purifies our mindsets and actions, helping us elevate our lives, lifetime after lifetime.
Buddhism teaches that our life comes from the accumulation of the three kinds of karma—the actions of our body, speech, and mind. In simple terms, it is what we do, what we say, and what we think every day. None of these actions ends right after they happen; they also leave imprints in our mind. Our present interests, hobbies, state of mind, character, and the quality of our life all come from the three kinds of karma—from our thoughts and views, our way of living, and our habits. What we did in the past determines who we are today. What we do now determines who we will become in the future.
Every action produces two kinds of results. One is the external result—for example, whether we succeed or fail, whether we break the law or not, whether it carries hidden legal risks. The other is the internal result, which includes the experience we gain and the mental patterns we form. These are faithfully recorded within us. The precepts keep us away from unwholesome actions, helping us avoid leaving bad records in our lives. Such records not only create trouble in the present, but also bring bitter results in the future. For example, if we engage in work that involves killing, and we create unwholesome karma for the sake of short-term profit, the result will be sickness, short life, or rebirth in a lower realm. This may happen in this life or in a future life—but once we do it, the result is unavoidable.
While it may be possible to evade legal punishment, causality is an objective law from which there is no escape. Therefore, we must choose a career of Right Livelihood—one that neither violates secular laws nor contradicts the precepts. On the premise of being a responsible citizen, we should strive to be pure, Dharma-abiding practitioners. Only in this way can we truly live this life well and create a positive accumulation for our future lives.
# **五、做事成为修行,商场变作道场** Make Work a Practice, Turn Business into a Dharma Field {#五、做事成为修行,商场变作道场-make-work-a-practice,-turn-business-into-a-dharma-field}
For those who have studied and practiced the Dharma, the idea of "approaching your work as a form of practice" is not new. There are already hundreds of thousands of words of teachings on this topic, compiled into four books. Why do we emphasize this? Most people run businesses simply to create wealth, achieve honor, and gain social respect. However, if we let work become practice and turn the marketplace into a place of practice (Dojo), the value it brings us goes far beyond material benefits. What, then, is the fundamental difference between merely doing work and making work a form of practice?
Creating Spiritual Wealth
Making work a form of practice allows us to create not only material wealth but also spiritual wealth. In an era where ethical standards are declining, some individuals resort to underhanded tactics for profit, even landing themselves in jail. Many others find themselves physically exhausted and mentally drained. They care only about maximizing profit—everything else must give way. In the end, they may have money, but the cost is enormous. There is a saying: “In the first half of life, we trade our life for money; in the second half, we spend our money to buy back life.”. What is even more tragic is that no amount of money can buy back a life. Even if it could, the body and mind would have already been damaged to some extent.
To enjoy wealth, we need both a healthy body and a good state of mind. Otherwise, we are just squandering it, gaining only momentary pleasure rather than true happiness. There is a saying: “Money in the bank, but one is in heaven.” Actually, a more likely scenario is “one is in hell”—and that is truly terrifying. At that point, you cannot use even a single cent of the money in the bank, but the karma you created in pursuit of that money is something you will have to bear all by yourself.
How can we avoid such a tragedy? We must adjust our perspectives through study and practice, and in the process of doing things, cultivate positive mental qualities such as gratitude, acceptance, tolerance, and compassion. When our mindset and the quality of our life improve, we can live happily regardless of our material circumstances. On the other hand, when people have money, they worry about inflation and loss of wealth; when they have no money, they feel like failures and cannot go on living. Some people own several billion in assets. Even if they lose a few hundred million, they are still far richer than most people, but they cannot bear it. Their minds are filled only with money—they cannot tolerate any loss, and in the end, they only cause themselves unnecessary suffering. Those who possess spiritual wealth, however, are not easily affected by external changes. When wealth pours in, they face it with an ordinary mind—not arrogant, not too excited. When they have nothing, they accept it with wisdom and find peace in it.
Realizing Ultimate Value*
We run businesses in order to achieve value. But most people only see worldly value—they lack reflection on ultimate value. That is why many wealthy people are especially afraid of death. What they possess is only worldly value. When their breath stops, all their lifelong hard work will have nothing to do with them anymore. From this perspective, it is indeed distressing, helpless, and hard to accept.
The truth is, merely worldly value is insignificant and short-lived. No matter how good we think we are, if we broaden our perspective—among the more than seven billion people on Earth and countless other living beings—even the wealthiest person is no more than a grain of sand. In the solar system, Earth is just one of eight planets, along with hundreds of other celestial bodies, and the sun is 1.3 million times larger than Earth. In the Milky Way, there are between 100 and 400 billion stars like the sun. And in the vast universe, there are hundreds of billions or even trillions of galaxies like the Milky Way. These numbers are already beyond imagination. Whats even more astonishing is that observable matter accounts for only 5% of the universe. The remaining 27% is dark matter, and 68% is dark energy.
Looking back from these perspectives, how insignificant life and everything we possess truly are. Without a concern for ultimate value, it is impossible to find the meaning of our existence. Even if we owned the entire Earth, what would it matter? Its like owning a single grain of sand and being able to decide its fate—not much difference. As humans explore the universe, many people see the insignificance of life and therefore feel a sense of nihilism. But the Dharma tells us that within this finite life, there is also an infinite dimension. The nature of the mind is the nature of the universe. As vast as the universe is, so vast is our mind. Studying the Dharma can help us realize the infiniteness of life.
In early Catholicism, secular activities had to serve religious purposes. Only things that helped people get to heaven were seen as valuable. This held back the development of science and technology to some degree. During the Reformation, this changed. Martin Luther introduced the idea of “vocation”: since humans are created by God, doing your own job well is itself a way to honor God. This turned ordinary work into a sacred calling, linking worldly value with ultimate value, and helped fuel the rise and success of capitalism.
How does Buddhism view value? Many people think Buddhism is detached from the world and somewhat negative, but that is only one aspect. For monastics, at certain stages of practice, it is indeed necessary to step away from distractions and focus on practice. However, Mahayana Buddhism places greater emphasis on bodhicitta and altruistic action. It calls us to engage in the world with the mission of benefiting all beings, perfecting compassion and accomplishing our own spiritual development through benefiting others. From this perspective, running a business and realizing ultimate value are not contradictory.
When we do everything with right view, mindfulness, and an altruistic attitude, we can both succeed in our work and realize ultimate value. Avalokiteśvaras thousand arms and thousand eyes express this Mahayana spirit. Likewise, great bodhisattvas like Mañjuśrī, Samantabhadra, and Kṣitigarbha all act in this way. They are our role models.
From Marketplace to Dharma Field
Modern people have accepted Darwins ideas of natural selection and survival of the fittest, believing that since humans evolved from animals, we are subject to the same laws. Consequently, the business world is viewed as a life-or-death battlefield, full of antagonism and even vicious competition. Some companies even promote a 'wolf culture' that emphasizes aggressive striving. If we approach our work with this mindset, from a certain perspective, we are merely amplifying the animalistic nature within our lives.
Buddhism teaches that within every person there is both demon-nature and Buddha-nature. What matters is which we manifest and which we cultivate. In the process of running a business, what do we hope to achieve? Do we want to manifest wolf-nature, turning the marketplace into a battlefield of conflict? Or do we want to manifest Buddha-nature, fostering cooperation, mutual benefit, and shared growth? The answer depends on what kind of culture we embrace.
Kazuo Inamori, known as the “sage of management,” was deeply influenced by traditional Chinese culture. He studied Buddhism and admired the philosophy of Wang Yangming, especially the concept of “extending innate knowledge.” In his business decisions, he did not put profit first. Instead, he used moral principles such as fairness, honesty, and diligence as his criteria. He believed that running a business was not only about pursuing profit, but also about providing employees with both material and spiritual benefits, as well as contributing to social progress. In the end, he founded two Fortune Global 500 companies and rescued a third that was nearly bankrupt, helping it return to the Fortune 500\. These achievements fully demonstrate that the marketplace can indeed be transformed into a place of practice, leading to success in both business and personal life. After retiring from his business career, he chose to become a monk, deepening his spiritual practice and preparing himself to meet the end of life in a better state of mind.
Among our entrepreneur students, some have changed the direction of their lives after studying and practicing the Dharma, devoting themselves wholeheartedly to volunteer work. This is truly admirable. At the same time, we rejoice in those who remain in their current positions and establish Dharma-inspired companies. In doing so, they transform their own minds, enable their employees to grow, and bring benefit to the wider society as well.
# **六、践行去中心化,人人都是主人** Practice Decentralization; Everyone is an Owner {#六、践行去中心化,人人都是主人-practice-decentralization;-everyone-is-an-owner}
I was deeply struck when I first heard the idea of “decentralization,” because it reflects the essence of Buddhism—no-self. A center is closely tied to our self-clinging. Because of self-clinging, we make “me” the center; and by creating a center, we reinforce that clinging. But Buddhism says the universe has no center, and neither does our innate awareness. The goal of practice is to break down self-clinging and remove the center. For managers, accepting this idea can help them practice even while doing business.
Many business owners face two challenges. First, employees are hard to manage—especially younger or more talented ones, who may quit at slightest dissatisfaction. Second, managers thinking becomes rigid, unable to keep pace with change. As a company expands, managers sense of importance, superiority, and control grows too. The bigger the business, the stronger their ego-clinging, and the less they listen to different opinions. Over time, they become stuck in their own ways and turn into obstacles to the companys progress. Decentralization can help solve both problems. Its benefits are seen in the following ways.
Self-motivation
Decentralization removes a single center. The focus shifts from the manager to projects or teams. Young people today are knowledgeable, independent, and value freedom. Trying to boss them around wont work. But if you provide opportunities for them to use their strengths and manage themselves, their drive will kick in. So we need to create conditions that inspire capable individuals and allow them to thrive. This fosters self-motivation and employee autonomy, while cutting down the internal friction that comes from heavy-handed management.
Equality, Cooperation, and Mutual Benefit*
Decentralization can turn a company into a platform for shared wealth creation. If you want to grow your business, you should build such a platform, turn your employees into partners, and truly make everyone an owner—each with a sense of entrepreneurship and opportunities for development. Its not about you working for me or me working for you. Rather, everyone works together as equals, united by a common goal. This is how you avoid confrontation in management. If you are the only one managing with great effort and making all the rules while everyone else simply works for you, its hard to say whether others will truly buy in. If you pay them enough, they may stay; but once pay decreases and workload increases, they may well leave. But when people work for themselves, its different. Even when difficulties arise, they will find ways to push through. As the platform grows, its essential to establish flat relationships, reduce communication barriers, and improve work efficiency.
Establishing Models*
Decentralization helps to establish model-based operations.* * Without a single center, everyone must strictly follow procedures and clear standards to work together effectively. Otherwise, things can quickly fall apart. This requires a solid set of systems, models, and standards. The key advantage of a model is that its easy to replicate. That helps the business grow while keeping things manageable. The hardest part isnt managing tasks—its managing people. If everyone trusts the model and works by it, reaching agreement and solving problems becomes much easier.
Weakening Self-Attachment*
Decentralization helps weaken self-attachment—the core of practice. I often say that practice is about shifting two centers. Most people take themselves as the center. But this self is full of ignorance and confusion. Listen to it, and youll only get more troubled. Taking refuge in the Three Jewels means shifting the center from yourself to the Three Jewels, using them as your guide to rewrite your lifes program. Then you shift further to take all beings as your center, vowing to benefit them all. Buddhism doesnt exist for Buddhas and bodhisattvas—it exists for beings. As the Gaṇḍavyūha Sūtra says, “All beings are the roots; Buddhas and bodhisattvas are the flowers and fruits. By nurturing beings with the water of great compassion, we grow the flowers and fruits of Buddha-wisdom. Thus, awakening belongs to beings. Without beings, no bodhisattva could ever attain supreme enlightenment.” So in Buddhism, beings are more important than Buddhas and bodhisattvas. The Buddhas and bodhisattvas have already completed their work and dont need anything from us. Its precisely because beings need help that we have the chance to gather the merit and wisdom for enlightenment through benefiting others.
Thus, decentralization is not only an advanced management approach but also an effective way of spiritual practice. It can help us open our hearts, embrace all beings, and realize the emptiness in which self and others are equal.
# **七、重视因缘因果,提高做事效率** Understand Cause and Effect; Improve Efficiency {#七、重视因缘因果,提高做事效率-understand-cause-and-effect;-improve-efficiency}
The phrase “causes, conditions, and effects” is familiar to everyone, but most people take it as just a concept, without considering its relevance to how we do things. In fact, this principle embodies Buddhisms profound understanding of the world and contains the complete wisdom of the universe and human life. Another concept related to this is “going with conditions.
When people talk about “going with conditions,” many take it to mean being casual, doing whatever, being indifferent, or lacking initiative. In fact, “going with conditions” tells us to step out of our own subjective feelings, look at things objectively, and respect the causal conditions of each situation. We easily live trapped in past experiences, listening only to certain voices. But individual experience is quite limited and not necessarily universal, so the views we form are often one-sided. Now with big data, we can gain a more comprehensive understanding of the relevant conditions, and the judgments we make become more objective. Therefore, going with conditions is not passive resignation; it is a wise choice made after a thorough assessment. Many advanced management approaches embody this wisdom. I will briefly mention a few points here, and we may explore them further another time.
Going with conditions makes work more efficient.
Many things come into being due to various causes and conditions. In the process of doing things, there are many possible methods, but there is always one that is direct, effective, and gives the greatest result with the least effort. If we fail to see what is primary and secondary, or fail to find the key link, we may get the job done, but only at great cost in time, energy, and money. If we misjudge, we may even go in the opposite direction. Going with conditions helps us find the most direct cause for success and complete our work by the shortest route—fastest and with the least effort.
Going with conditions means managing causes, conditions, and results.
Modern project management aligns well with the Buddhist view of dependent origination. Doing any work is a process of bringing about results through causes and conditions—by creating the right conditions, we eventually achieve the outcome. Many people feel, “I am also creating conditions, but things still dont turn out as expected. Why is that?” The reason is often insufficient understanding, management, and follow-through on the relevant conditions, so they cannot optimize the conditions and make things better over time. Project management, through extensive experience and summary, establishes a set of management systems and knowledge bases from various dimensions. It creates effective steps and methods for the entire processfrom initiation to planning, tracking, supervision, and evaluation—helping us fully understand the causes, conditions, and effects involved in doing a task well. This is very helpful.
Most people care only about results. But from a Buddhist view, we work on the causes and let go of attachment to outcomes. Before acting, check if the conditions are there, fill in whats missing, then do your best. Every time, give it your all, and accept whatever happens with a calm mind. If the result isnt good, use it as a starting point, improve things, and upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0, then 3.0. So project management is really about managing causes, conditions, and effects. Its putting “going with conditions” into practice.
Going with conditions turns competition into win-win
In every industry, there are peers. How do we relate to them? Is it competition or mutual benefit? It depends on whether we want to keep the pie to ourselves or make it bigger. Both views come from observing and understanding causes and conditions. Some people think that benefits are fixed—if you take a piece, I get less. This leads to confrontation and rejection. In fact, nothing in the world is fixed; everything arises from the coming together of many conditions. If we can create good connections, turn competitors into partners, complement each others strengths, and create greater value, then in the end everyone can gain more. When we work with an open mind, a long-term perspective, and friendly cooperation, things become easier and easier. As the saying goes, “Those who follow the way receive much support.” On the other hand, if we constantly think about fighting competitors, racking our brains in a life-or-death struggle, we end up physically and mentally exhausted.
Going with conditions means putting others at the center
Going with conditions is about putting users and employees at the center and establishing a bottom-up management system, rather than living within a self-centered framework. Todays society is changing rapidly. If we do not understand causes and conditions, we will not know what people truly need. Some older generation entrepreneurs fall behind the times and are gradually eliminated because they are bound by past experiences and stuck in their own assumptions. On the other hand, some emerging enterprises are able to grow quickly and win over users because they adapt to changing conditions, take the market as their guide, establish mechanisms that align with social development, and continuously improve their products.
The wisdom of “going with conditions” is very rich. You can say no form of advanced management falls outside the scope of causes, conditions, and effects. From the perspective of Buddhist practice, going with conditions can weaken self-attachment and fulfill the practice of selflessness and benefiting others.
# **八、结束语 Closing Words** {#八、结束语-closing-words}
So these are a few reflections on how to run a business inspired by the Dharma. First, create a setting with a Zen feel and improve the workplace—help your employees settle their body and mind. Second, truly care for others, build healthy relationships, and make the company a place of genuine cohesion. Third, invest in cultural education so that the company and its people share the same beliefs and values. Fourth, choose a right livelihood, steer clear of anything illegal, and dont let short-term gains tie you down. Fifth, turn your work into practice and the marketplace into a spiritual field—let your career and your inner cultivation become one. Sixth, practice decentralization, make your employees true partners and owners, and bring out their initiative and sense of responsibility. Seventh, take the law of causes, conditions, and effects to heart, adjust as conditions evolve, and keep a firm footing in this rapidly changing world.
These management principles contain profound wisdom. Without adequate understanding, spiritual practice, and depth of insight, we cannot put them into practice. Studying the Dharma can help us better grasp these ideas and bring Buddhist wisdom into business management. In the process of running a business, we can unify benefiting ourselves and benefiting others, realizing both worldly value and ultimate value. This brings well-being not only to ourselves but also to all beingsnot only in the present but also in our future lives. I believe that the development of Dharma-inspired enterprises can offer inspiration and solutions to todays business community, helping them to deal with the anxiety, stress, and life confusion that come with rapid social change.
