# Terminology decisions for Tai Chi Mindfulness Ball 15-Minute Guided Practice
- 对跖点 / 对趾点 → "opposite sides of the ball" / "opposite points"
- Base instruction used "opposite sides of the ball."
- Source uses 对跖点 (geometric antipodal point) and 对趾点 interchangeably.
- Decision: keep the base rendering "opposite sides of the ball" for the posture cue; use "opposite points" in the explanation of the meditation object to avoid repetition.
- 丹田 → "dantian"
- MPI term DB only gives "pubic region; point two inches below the navel where one's qi resides."
- Meditation-translation reference recommends keeping "dantian" as a well-known meditation/qigong term.
- Base instruction used "lower abdomen"; source explicitly says 丹田, so "dantian" is used here.
- 无我 → "selfless" / "selflessly"
- In this movement/mindfulness context the sense is "no separate controller imposing on the action" rather than the philosophical doctrine of non-self.
- Decision: render as "selfless" (adjective) and "without controlling" to keep it practical and oral.
- 中道 → "Middle Way"
- Standard rendering; used here in the physical sense of balanced effort (not too tight, not too loose).
- 随喜 → "rejoice in"
- DoT preliminary/BAICKZ uses "rejoice."
- Closing line "随喜大家练习正念球的功德!" → "Rejoice in the merit of everyone practicing the Tai Chi Mindfulness Ball!"
- 空掌拍打 → "using relaxed, open palms"
- Base instruction rendering; reused.
- 闭合毛孔 → "seal in the warmth"
- Base instruction rendered this concept interpretively as "preserve the warmth and energy."
- Kept closer to the physical image while preserving the meaning: "Release tension in the muscles and seal in the warmth."
- 三个九十度 → "the three right angles of your body"
- The source condenses the base posture description (thighs parallel, lower legs vertical, feet flat) into this phrase.
- Rendered literally since the posture cue is familiar in Tai Chi/qigong instruction.
- 七支盘坐 → base instruction used "Seven-Point Posture of Vairochana"; source says 席地盘坐 (sit cross-legged on the floor/cushion), so not used here.

## 缘起
I received the following WeChat messages.

[File:Tai Chi Mindfulness Ball Basic Instructions .docx]
```
## 文件关系分析
- *Tai Chi Mindfulness Ball Basic Instructions.docx* 是基础版:中英对照,包含恭敬前行、安坐调息、正念转球(15/30 分钟通用说明)、两段引导(5/10 分、10/20 分)、结束收功、回向、慈心拍背、温馨提示。
- *太极正念球15分钟导引-导师版.docx* 是在基础版之上的**15 分钟口播导引用扩展版**:中文单语,把基础版的姿势与转球要点整合成一段连续 15 分钟口令,增加了开场提示、重复三次深呼吸、把心拉回来的提示、对跖点所缘的说明、再次觉知身体、结尾随喜功德等。
- 处理原则:**导师版为待译源文**,基础版英文为“观轩师父已译版本”,重复内容优先沿用,扩展/改动内容重新翻译,确保风格一致。
| 导师版章节 | 对应基础版位置 | 处理说明 |
|---|---|---|
| 开场:跟随音乐,开始15分钟 | 无 | 新增,翻译 |
| 【恭敬前行】 | Preparing with Reverence | 沿用基础版英文,按需微调 |
| 【安坐调息】 | Settling the Body, Calming the Breath | 沿用,注意新增“将球心调整至与心脏齐平”及三次呼吸的重复 |
| 此刻…心在哪里? | Guide for 5- or 10-minute 中的“where is your mind” | 扩展为“所缘是对跖点”的解释,新增翻译 |
| 再次觉知身体 | Guide for 10- or 20-minute 中的身体觉知 | 沿用,注意“三个九十度”为基础版已有内容的浓缩 |
| 【结束收功】 | Concluding the practice | 沿用 |
| 【至诚回向】 | Dedication of Merit | 沿用 |
| 【温馨提示】 | Gentle Reminder + Loving-kindness Back Patting | 沿用,顺序与基础版略有不同 |
| 结尾随喜功德 | 无 | 新增,翻译 |
## 关键术语预查
已查询 MPI 术语库:
- **四无量心**DoT 定稿 `Four Immeasurable Minds`;基础版用 `Four Immeasurable minds`。沿用 `Four Immeasurable Minds`。
- **正念球 / 太极正念球**:内部特色词/禅意项目 `Tai Chi Mindfulness Ball`。
- **丹田**`dantian` meditation/qigong 通用音译)。
- **回向 / 功德**:基础版用 `Dedication of Merit` 与 `merits`;沿用。
- **对跖点 / 对趾点**:术语库无结果;基础版译为 `opposite sides of the ball`。计划保留 `opposite sides of the ball`,必要时加 `antipodal points` 注释。
- **虚领顶劲、沉肩坠肘、松腰落胯/坐胯、刚柔相济**:术语库无结果;沿用基础版已采用的 Taiji/qigong 英文表达。
- **七支盘坐**:佛教术语 `the Seven-Point Postures of Vairochana`;基础版用 `Seven-Point Posture of Vairochana`。沿用。
## 翻译策略
1. **源文**:以导师版为 `source.dj`。
2. **复用基础版英文**:凡是导师版与基础版中文一致或高度重合的句子,优先复制基础版英文,必要时为适应 15 分钟口播节奏做最小调整。
3. **新增内容单独翻译**:开场、重复深呼吸、对跖点所缘说明、结尾随喜功德等。
4. **口播/导引风格**
- 第二人称直接称呼 (`you`)
- 现在时、祈使句
- 短句、可一口气念出
- 段落标签用普通方括号 `[...]`,不用加粗
5. **格式**Djot`*...*` 表示强调,不用 `**`;保留 `{% ... %}` 术语注释。
6. **行级对齐**`source.dj` 与 `target.dj` 行数必须 1:1;每个非空中文行对应一行英文。
## 执行计划
1. **准备 source.dj**
- 从导师版 `.docx` 提取中文。
- 删除文末助手提问(“需要我为这段引导词配上…”)。
- 规范标点、去掉多余空行,保留段落结构。
2. **术语复核**
- 再次查询术语库确认新增词(如“空掌拍打”等)。
- 把术语决定写入 `edit-suggestions.dj`。
3. **翻译 target.dj**
- 按上表逐段翻译,复用基础版英文。
- 新增段落在 Meditation/Mindfulness 风格下直接翻译。
- 每段完成后核对行数。
4. **自审**
- 加载 `mpi-translation-review`self mode)。
- 检查:无缺漏、无过度翻译、术语一致、行数一致、口播可读性。
5. **生成双语稿**
- 运行 `../../toolkit/scripts/gen-bilingual.py source.dj target.dj > bilingual.dj`。
- 检查 `bilingual.dj` 段落配对。
6. **输出 docx**
- 用 `../../toolkit/scripts/dj2docx.fish target.dj` 生成到 `/tmp/`。
7. **QA**
- 通读 bilingual.dj,对照导师版中文与基础版英文,确认扩展内容已译、重复内容一致。
[Tai Chi Mindfulness Ball 15-Minute Guided Practice]
Next, following the music, we begin a 15-minute mindful ball-rotation practice.
[Preparing with Reverence]
Please sit upright with a stable posture. Bring your palms together, gather your body and mind, and let us cultivate the Four Immeasurable Minds:
May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness.
May all beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering.
May all beings experience the supreme joy beyond sorrow, body and mind at ease.
May all beings abide in equanimity, free from attachment and aversion.
[Settling the Body, Calming the Breath]
Find your seat---either upright in a chair or sit cross-legged on the floor.
Let the spine rise naturally. Hold the Tai Chi ball with both hands, resting it lightly against your lower abdomen.
Close your eyes, settle the mind, calm the breath, and take three deep breaths---
inhale... exhale...
inhale... exhale...
inhale... exhale...
Adjust the center of the ball to align with your heart.
Keep your hands aligned on opposite sides of the ball.
Notice the different sensations where your palms and the backs of your hands meet the ball.
Clear and vivid, knowing each moment.
While rotating the ball, bring awareness to your body:
Gently lift the crown of your head; let the shoulders melt downward and the elbows drop with ease; soften the waist and sink into the hips.
Keep your thighs level with the ground and your lower legs vertical.
Feet flat on the floor, toes pointing forward.
While turning the ball, keep the center steady and your hands balanced on opposite sides.
Turn slowly and steadily, again and again.
Let both hands turn slowly together.
Right now, where is your mind?
The object of this beginning practice is the opposite point where each hand meets the ball.
Aware of this moment, let the mind follow the hands, and the hands follow the ball.
Naturally selfless, tension and release in balance, softness and strength together.
Through turning the ball, let steadiness of attention open the door of awareness.
Keep the center of the ball steady and the opposite points balanced.
Turn slowly and steadily, again and again.
Now, once again, bring awareness back to your body:
Spine upright. The crown of your head slightly lifted. Shoulders relaxed, elbows at ease. Waist and hips settled, grounded.
Be aware of the three ninety-degree angles of your body.
While turning the ball, move slowly and evenly, keeping the speed steady and the center of the ball stable.
Not too fast, not too slow; not too high, not too low; not leaning left or right.
Let the waist move the shoulders, the shoulders move the elbows, the elbows move the wrists, and the wrists move the hands.
Stay focused, aware, natural and unforced.
Selfless, without controlling, the Middle Way of balanced tension and release, softness and strength together.
[Concluding the Practice]
Now, stop rotating the ball. Place it on your lap with both hands.
Let the body soften. Let the breath return to its natural rhythm. Keep your awareness at the dantian.
[Dedication of Merit]
Please bring your palms together. With sincerity, let us dedicate the merit:
May the merits of our deeds reach every part of the world.
Sentient beings large and small, all attain enlightenment.
[Gentle Reminder]
Avoid washing your hands with cold water right after practice, to prevent catching a chill.
If practicing with others, you may gently pat each other's shoulders and upper back using relaxed, open palms.
Release tension in the muscles and seal in the warmth.
Rejoice in the merit of everyone practicing the Tai Chi Mindfulness Ball!
